Today, just about anyone can build a website. However, making sure your website is search engine optimized (SEO) is an entirely different thing. It's best if you have a SEO strategy in place before you start, but anytime is a good time to dig in.


Speed
Let's face it we're all human and we hate to wait. In today's fast-paced world, seconds count more than ever. Content
Good use of content will help you get noticed by the search engines, and great content will keep people on your site. A few examples might be adding metadata to your pages, alt text to your images, sourcing long-tail keywords that match your content and H1, H2 and H3 tags. Optimization
Bells and whistles are nice, but that chat app on every page, along with the seven image rotating banner, and exit-intent popup are like strapping a boat anchor to your site. Give your vistors all of what they want, and none of what they don't. Optimize those images, no need for 10 mb pics. Minimize use of javascript, and use a content delivery network. It's always good practice to create or update a sitemap and submit / re-submit it to Google and Bing. We can go on and on, but you get the idea. Many of these optimizations are not difficult, but you would be surprised the number of sites that have no absolutly no SEO or security protocols in place. Sound like your website?
